Navigating a new healthcare system can be challenging for new immigrants in Canada. At Active Action, we are committed to helping new immigrants to Canada understand and access the healthcare services they need. Our online Health System Literacy session is designed to provide comprehensive information and guidance on navigating the Canadian healthcare system effectively.

This online session offers:

  1. Overview of Health System: An introduction to the structure and functioning of the Canadian healthcare system, including public health insurance and available services.
  2. Accessing Services: Step-by-step guidance on how to register for health insurance, find healthcare providers, book appointments, and understand referral processes.
  3. Health Card Registration: Guidance on how to register for provincial health card.
  4. Emergency Services: Instructions on when and how to use emergency services, including hospitals, urgent care centers, and emergency hotlines.
  5. Community Resources: Information on local health resources, such as community health centers, mental health services, and support groups.
